However, let's start with a Mission Accomplished piece of fun and learning: the documentary! The Wolves did a truly spectacular job researching, creating, and sharing their science documentary. It is now available on our student website and YouTube. Please note the security is set to "Private" which means you can only watch it with the link. Please feel free to share with friends and family!

Spelling Bee on 5/10
Ms. Debbie's annual spelling bee will take place tomorrow at GD (12:15 - 12:45). If you'd like to watch this awesome event, full of the love of words and brave children taking a risk, please feel free to join us!
Field Trip to Ralston Creek on 5/11
This Wednesday morning, weather permitting, the Owls and Wolves will visit Ralston Creek to complete organism sampling (Debbie, Christine, and my idea) and creek cleanup (their idea!). Please send your child with clothes that can get wet and dirty and a change for comfort in the afternoon. Pants and long sleeves are advised as there may be poison ivy. We'll do our best to avoid, of course. If your child prefers to have boots or water shoes, please send those as well.
Parents of 6th Graders: Graduate Pages for the Kids' Rag DUE 5/13
In 2014, we began a Kids' Rag tradition and included a special page to honor our WW graduates. I would love to do this again for the 2016 version!
By Friday, May 13, would you please send me a congratulatory message for your graduating student? This is a hard deadline as the yearbook goes to the printer on Monday, May 16. This could include a special picture (maybe a baby photo, or a snapshot of their first day of school?) and a message from your family. It would be really helpful to have this all in electronic form, but I can scan photos if needed.
This is optional, of course. Please reply if you do not wish for your child to be included so I'm aware you've elected not to participate.
The students know the pages will be in the yearbook, but I would like the specifics to be a SURPRISE for our 6th graders, so please don't share! They'll see it in the yearbook, and not before. :)
Websites, Kids' Rag, and Computers
The Wolves are moving right from their big documentary project to two new ones - portfolio websites and the Kids' Rag yearbook design and creation. Both projects are student (and teacher!) favorites and are a spectacular way to end a fun year of learning together.
Some students are opting to bring a personal laptop on which to work on their websites. The Weebly design interface is slow on the iPad, and the school laptops are not always available for us to use. If you are open to your child bringing his or her own laptop, I am happy to help guide use at school. Please know that this is optional - we have the equipment to manage the project available, but some children simply prefer their own computers. I wanted to communicate this clearly so that there is no confusion regarding what is needed to complete the websites.
Start Taking Your "Stuff" Home! :)
Any remaining boots, snow pants, or winter gear can go home. Winter is definitely over, thankfully! If you loaned a microscope to the class, those can also go home now. Thank you so much for allowing us to use them during our science work!
Please be in touch with questions, and let's enjoy these last weeks of school!
