Willowwind Halloween 2015
The Willowwind community will be celebrating Halloween the afternoon of Friday, October 30. Students will be asked to bring their costumes to school. We ask that costumes not be too scary. No weapons, blood, or gore will be permitted. We understand that costumes often include these things, but please save them for trick-or treating to avoid the disruption at school. Students will change into their costumes for our afternoon celebration, but are expected to wear their normal clothes to school for morning activities. Families are invited to join our festivities from 2:00 - 3:15 for our parade and K-6 Halloween celebration.
Tech Education Opportunity for 5/6 Girls
Check out this cool opportunity offered by Iowa Tech Chicks! Girls Tech Career Day. This event coincides with Parent-Teacher conferences, and would be a great way for your daughter to spend a no school day!
Donations Needed for Electronics Explorations
William Kamkwamba begin his adventures in electronics by repairing broken radios in his village. As a part of our upcoming electronics unit, the Wolves will be dissecting electronic devices to discover the types and numbers of electronic components used in their design. We'd love to have broken or discarded electronics that you are willing to permanently part with (I can almost guarantee you will not be getting anything back in working order). Thanks in advance for your assistance!
By the Way...Have We Mentioned William Kamkwamba? :)
The Wolves have been so inspired by the story of William Kamkwamba. Check out his TED talks here:

We are Makers
What do you make? Would you be willing to share your Maker skills with the Willowwind community? The PK-6 faculty would love to have you share your expertise either in classrooms or at General Discussion. Please be in touch if you would like to share the what, why, and how of your Maker identity with a group of excited, vibrant learners.
Here's to a Happy Halloween,
Rachel
