What a truly wonderful first day of school! We shared, wrote, laughed, drew, listened, played, and began building the foundation of our learning community. With the personalities and brainpower already on display today, I know we're in for a fantastic year. Here are a few highlights of our day:
We created extended name tags, which included each person's name and four interesting facts about him or her. Each person paired with a person they didn't know well to share their facts. The classroom buzzed with happy chatter as we all got to know one another better.
This Wednesday, August 26, the Wolves will take our first field trip to Ralston Creek. As we will spend much of our year exploring environments, water, and the impact of human behaviors on our natural resources, we are going to utilize the resource in Willowwind's backyard (well, close to our backyard). Every child will be able to begin getting to know the creek at his or her level of comfort so that we can begin developing the questions that will guide or explorations this year. Please send a change of clothes that can get wet and muddy (including shoes), a towel, bug spray, and sunscreen on Wednesday. We are likely going to get DIRTY!
I cannot wait to see everyone tomorrow!
